Football: UL quarterbacks coach honored – Infury Report – Extra PointsJoshua Parrott • jparrott@theadvertiser.com • October 21, 2010 UL quarterbacks coach/passing game coordinator Jorge Munoz was inducted into Bethany College’s Athletic Hall of Honor last weekend. Munoz earned All-America honors in his two years at quarterback for the NAIA school in Kansas during the 1995 and 1996 seasons under legendary coach Ted Kessinger, who was recently enshrined into the National College Football Hall of Fame. He is first in Bethany College history in single-season and career passing yards and second in all-time passing attempts, completions and touchdown passes. Bethany College held the ceremony last Friday as the Cajuns traveled to play Troy on Saturday. Munoz learned about the honor after getting a phone call from current Bethany College coach Tim Weaver, one of his former college teammates. "I found out about it as I was going to the airport last Friday (to fly with the team to Troy), so I didn’t even know about it," Munoz said. "It’s definitely a cool thing. I would have loved to have gone and loved to have been there." Injury reportUL released its official injury report Wednesday going into Saturday’s game against Western Kentucky. Six players are out: receiver Javone Lawson (clavicle), defensive tackles Sharrick Moore (knee) and Jermaine Rogers (knee), offensive lineman Sean Osborne (head), free safety Maurice Rolle Jr. (leg) and tailback Kevis Streeter (knee). Linebacker Grant Fleming (hamstring) and defensive end Terrell Richardson (ankle) are doubtful. Defensive tackle Jordan Topp (ankle) and offensive linemen Colin Windsor (knee) and Robbie Robinson (shoulder) are questionable. Robinson was upgraded from out. There are 13 players that are probable, including five starters in center Ian Burks (finger), defensive end Nate Douglas (shoulder), tight end Ladarius Green (ankle) and linebackers Daylon McCoy (back) and Devon Lewis-Buchanan (shoulder). Other probable players: Receivers Richie Falgout (shoulder), Andrew "Rico" Joseph (knee) and Darryl Surgent (shoulder), offensive linemen Andre Huval (ankle) and Jaron Odom (ankle), strong safety Lance Kelley (hand), tailback Julian Shankle (ankle) and defensive lineman Bernard Smith (thumb). If he can’t play, sophomore Leonardo Bates would likely slide over from left guard. Junior Kyle Plouhar would take Bates’ spot in the lineup at left guard "» With Surgent likely unable to return kicks this week, Kelley got some action as a kick returner at the end of Wednesday’s practice. The junior averaged 31.5 yards and had one TD on 12 kickoff returns as a senior at St. Thomas More. ![]()
