Baseball: Moore Named To CoSIDA 2016 Academic All-Districtâ„¢ Baseball Teams

Dylan Moore 3/6/2016

LAFAYETTE, La. –Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns baseball sophomore pitcher Dylan Moore was named to the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) 2016 Academic All-District™ baseball teams, the organization announced on Thursday. The teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

"It’s always an honor and a privilege to be recognized for a national award," head coach Tony Robichaux said. "Most of the time awards only focus on a player’s athletic ability. What I really like about this award is that you are not only judged on your athletic ability, but what you do academically in the classroom is also important. I think that’s what it should always be about. They are called student-athletes for a reason. We always tell our guys not to let their athletic mission undermine their academic mission. Dylan has been great for us not only on the field, but also in the classroom."

The Academic All-District™ teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. District 6 is comprised of universities from the states of Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

Moore was named to the CoSIDA District 6 Academic All-District™ First Team as a pitcher. In his second year with the program, Moore has excelled in the classroom posting a 4.00 GPA in Political Science with an emphasis in pre-law. Moore has been named to the President’s List and the Sun Belt Conference Commissioners List since joining the program in the fall of 2014.

"A lot of the success we’ve had in the classroom as a team is a direct correlation to the hard work by coach Doe (Chris Domingue)," Robichaux added. " Christy Alford and Dustin Daigle in the student academic office have also played a big part our academic success, but coach Doe is my liaison between the student and the student academic center. I can’t say enough about how great of a job he does with that and how important it is to our program."

On the field, Moore has also been exceptional going 4-1 in 19 appearances and ranks sixth in the nation with 11 saves. Moore has registered a 0.53 ERA in 34 innings and has limited opponents to a .120 average.

Moore recently was named the UL Male Student-Athlete of the Year for his outstanding achievements both on and off of the field.

First-team Academic All-District™ honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
