Athletics: Ragin’ Cajuns Announce Fall 2012 Graduates 12/13/12

LAFAYETTE – The Ragin’ Cajuns Athletics Department announced Thursday a group of 42 current and former student-athletes, combined, who will be graduating on Saturday, Dec. 15 during University of Louisiana Fall 2012 commencement ceremonies.
 
Those student-athletes – all but two receiving bachelor’s degrees – will collect their diplomas as they take part in ceremonies either at the Cajundome, Cajundome Convention Center or Angelle Hall on main campus.
 
The 40 undergraduates will obtain degrees in diverse programs including biology, criminal justice, electrical engineering, finance, hospitality management, industrial technology, marketing, plant science, political science and visual arts among various other degree programs.
 
Two former athletes, soccer’s Carleigh Martin and women’s track’s Lina Futi, have completed graduate school and will receive their MBA (master’s of business administration).
 
Softball’s Megan Waterman has been named the Outstanding Graduate for the College of Sciences. It’s the second straight fall semester a softball student-athlete is named an Outstanding Graudate, with Waterman joining Ashley Brignac (Oustanding Graduate College of Education Fall 2011) in earning the prestigious distinction.
 
“We are extremely proud of our graduates and pleased to see them receive their degrees,” said Director of Athletics Scott Farmer. “We wish them all the best in their upcoming endeavors and thank them for their tireless contributions and dedication to our athletics department.“
 
The Fall 2012 Commencement Day Celebration will consist of individual academic college ceremonies beginning at either 8 a.m., 1:30 p.m. or 4 p.m.
 
The General Assembly is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. inside the Cajundome main arena. The commencement speaker at the General Assembly is Kohl Crecelius CEO, Krochet Kids Intl.
 
The majority of the academic college ceremonies will be held in the Cajundome main arena, convention center exhibit hall and convention center festival ballroom. College of the Arts will award degrees at Angelle Hall (8 a.m.).
