For the fifth time in seven weeks, a Ragin’ Cajun has been chosen as the LSWA Hitter of the Week.  This week the honor goes to junior outfielder Christi Orgeron.

Orgeron hit .800 (8-for-10) last weekend in a three-game sweep of Sun Belt opponent Troy.  The junior right fielder was a single short of the cycle on Sunday, with just three official at-bats in a six-inning UL victory.

She posted seven RBI on the weekend which moves her season total to 55.  In comparison, Orgeron led the Sun Belt at the season’s end last year with 56 runs batted in.  Her 2011 RBI total gives Orgeron 1.72 RBI per game this season, the best mark in the nation.

The award is the second of the season for Orgeron from the LSWA to go along with one Sun Belt Player of the Week honor.

In other news on Tuesday, the Cajuns climbed one spot in each of the Top 25 polls.  In the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 poll, UL moved up to No.18 while in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 poll the Cajuns climbed to No.19.

The Cajuns are currently in the midst of their longest layoff of the season, as they do not play again until Wednesday, April 6 when FIU comes to town to begin a three-game Sun Belt series at Lamson Park.
